Meet Carolina and Daniela de Pontes, the twin sisters and artists behind Duo Denim. Born in Miami, the Duo behind Duo grew up in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and Lisbon, Portugal before moving to New York City to study at Pratt Institute, a global leader in visual arts higher education. The de Pontes twins, Industrial Design and Photography majors respectively, initially started Duo as a hobby to be able to stand out from the crowd.

"After coming home we would always notice that girls in town were dressed pretty much the same no matter the occasion. Since there isn't much variation in stores and there are few options to stray from mainstream fashion trends in Portugal, we wanted to find an alternative. That's why we started Duo - it was a way for us, as artists, to feel like we had a say in what we were wearing, and made every outfit feel like an expression of ourselves as individuals. Even more importantly, it allowed us to take our art with us wherever we go, and we want to make sure every client that we work with has the same opportunity to do so."​

Duo became a means for the sisters to merge their diverse disciplines and collaborate on unique wearable art, offering clients the chance to make a personal statement through clothing. Beyond creative freedom, the project unites their distinct studies and fuels their shared passion for expanding Duo Denim.
